Email of 7/7/06 regarding Penn State World Campus and its shrinking enrollments:
"Thanks Robert, this is useful information. What it doesn't capture, though, is that there was apparently a major increase in the cost of taking WC as a resident student over the past year. It has always cost more, but they may have now found the point where the elasticity of demand kicks in and people stay away due to the marginal increase. It would be useful to know the different costs between years in order to contextualize the shifting enrollment numbers.
We had two revisions supported last year, though there is not very much flexibility from the instructional designers about the delivery and nature of the courses. I know that if we could get support for real digital pedagogy revisisions on these courses that they would be the best in the country. Stuart, Avis would be the contact person to start a discussion for revision and marketing.
Sincerely,
Rich"
